Announcements

I'd like to congratulate Sis. Hess on receiving her YW medallion, and for finishing the Personal progress! We have a new medallion this year! The wreath around the outside represents the laurels, the flower represents the Mia maids, and the beehive represents the beehives! The Red ruby in the middle of the flower represents the scripture Proverbs 31:10 "Who can find A virtuous woman? for her price if far above rubies." I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! The theme for the 2011 year is the 13th article of faith. "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." Everyone should look forward to a FABULOUS year in 2011!

Mikayla!

For those of you who check my blog daily (:you know who you are:) SURPRISE!
This weeks spotlight is................................Mikayla! Mikayla's greatest fear is being pushed off a cliff or something very high.
If there was a fire and she had time to grab only 3 things she would grab her camera, her journals, and her art.
If she could change her name it would be Mickey!
If she could marry a Disney character it would be the Enchanted guy, the normal/real life one (he is sweet!)
her favorite scripture hero is all of them because they are cool like that!

Layton Lights

For Mutual this week the Laurels and the Mia maids went to the Layton Christmas lights. On our way there Rachel, Alexis, and Judith went crazy in the backseat of the car! Everyone had tons of fun walking through the lights and looking at how many different kinds of lights there were.
My personal favorite was the two giraffes!

At the end we all gathered together for hot chocolate!

Volleyball!

Once a year, around the September-October time. The 18th Ward Young Women get together to play volleyball against the other wards. Our team, is the peppiest, funnest, and best volleyball team in the stake. We are super supportive of each other, and don't make fun of people when they miss. It's funny because we even cheer on the other team!
Well, usually if you win most of your games you go to the championship. Guess who's going to the championship? That's right! The 18th ward!

Not to brag or anything, but we're pretty good.

It's mainly the Beehives who come, but we do have some Laurels and Mia maids who are regular players.

Also, If you haven't noticed we have a little tradition. We usually wear knee high socks! Just to show how peppy we are! Lets win this thing guys!

Old Folks Home

For one of our combined Beehive, Laurel, and Mia maid activities we went to an old folks home! We all had a TON of fun! We frosted sugar cookies and then we sang primary songs. We sang popcorn popping, Jesus wants me for a sunbeam, and many more classics!
Even though we went there to make the elderly happy we also made ourselves happy too!

Through all the frosting we could deffinately tell that people were having fun!

We all made wonderful friends with the elderly.

At the end of the night we decided the old folks needed to get to bed. These two came up to me at the end and told me that they didn't get to do such wonderful things and have such wonderful bright, young people come very often. I promised that we had a lot of fun too and that we'd come back soon. I sure had a lot of fun watching everyone sing and we deffinately should go back soon.
